august...you've been corrupted!! AHHHHH. I would like to respond with the following bands:
#1) No Use For a Name
#2) Jimmy Eat World
#3) Relient K
#4) The All-American Rejects
As for the pop realm I do believe the Backstreet Boys are a band since they are referred to as a "boy band" so they are my absolute #1.

how can u geeks like the beatles more than linkin park or thursday or metallica??
August Die She Must
Jan 30 2004, 07:04 PM
I like the Beatles because they were talented, original pioneers in music who had an excellent sense of what music really *IS*. They had TRUTH. Paul knew it, and George did as well, although in a different way. It took Ringo a bit longer, but he figured it out too, eventually. John...didn't, but it wasn't really his fault. He died to early.... *crys*
Nirvana
Jan 30 2004, 08:26 PM
you know i have no idea how they can.......... i never wanted to put the beatles on there in the first place......... but stupidly i did. i don't know what music hateing theing they have runing here. but i can tell you i am part of it. i like good bands. but apperntly the nerds here don't. but thats ok. because they are young and stupid and they still have time to change there nasty ways. i wish there was a way to take the beatles out of this............
Oooooo......... Lincin park thingy that starts with a and i forget the word but ends with tar.

The Beatles *are* a good band. They practically invented rock! How can you NOT like the Beatles? And how is liking the Beatles "nerdy' or "geeky"? The Beatles will live forever! They were a revolution! THEY INVENTED MODERN ROCK!!!!!

Jan 31 2004, 09:06 PM
ummmm.... i don't think good bands like Mudvayne (and by the way y isn't that on here) looked back and said... u no the beatles were an awsum band lets remind ourselves that they were the bassis of our rock....
it might not have been geeky back then 2 like the beatles, but now it's just arkaic.

OK: The Evolution of Modern Music
Mozart - inspired Scott Joplin - inspired Elvis - inspired the Beatles - inspired Pink Floyd, Queen, Ramones, Sex Pistols, etc. - inspired countless punk/rock/pop/goth/ metal bands around the world.
The Beatles evolved from a generic rock 'n' roll band to one of the most innovative musical artists of all time. How do I know? Well, look at the countless modern cover versions of their songs. Look at all the young people (myself included) that still listen to their music. Look at how you (Nirvana and Stolen Success) know about them. There are so many 60's bands (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Beach Boys, etc.) that are relatively well known but still pale in comparison with the Beatles when judged on how many people know about their existence.
I listen to bands like Linkin Park, AFI, Thursday, etc., but I acknowledge their debt (however indirect) to the Beatles.

i only know about them cuz my mom thinks she still lives in the 60s. well she's a [stupid language filters!!], but besides that, i wouldn't even no about them and i wouldn't care. ignorence is bliss right??
okay i'v herd of the beach boys (whoever hasen't theyre eternally lucky) but who are crosby stills nash and young?? never heard of ne of em.
look here's my theory: i think that no one was 'inspired' by ne other band... so what if that band came before em?? there still completely original. u listen to thursday: does that sound anything even remotely like the beach boys? does linkin park sound anything like pink floyd?? does nirvana sound anything like queen???

The reason I included the Sex Pistols and the Ramones is because they were two of the first "punk" bands. A band, unless it is a completely innovative style, has to be influenced by the genre it belongs to. Linkin Park is a combination of rock and hip-hop - OK, that's something relatively new. Nirvana - now that I'm not quite sure of, because I've never listened to them. But Linkin Park and Nirvana, among others, all being rock bands, owe a debt to the rock bands that were around before them. If rock 'n' roll had never been invented and we were all still listening to Mozart, do you think all those bands would be around?
As I've said, it is possible to create an entirely new genre of music or to change an already existing one into a "sub-genre" (blues to rock, rock to punk, etc.). The Beatles did that, changing generic rock 'n' roll to the foundations of what many people listen to today.

i voted beatles...but a lot of those other bands were close. the beatles were just awesome...i cant even start. pretty much any rock band is in debt to them. punk bands not so much cuz like moril said the ramones and sex pistols sorta started that. the ramones are awesome too! so i think a lot of bands come close to the beatles but i doubt any band will achieve their musical accomplishments.

Country music is "dissolving". Look at Shania Twain. I mean, she is country, and her last #1 hit was all robots and futuristic junk. Garth Brooks was country. But most newer country is kinda "neo-country". Rap is mostly Ganster Rap, and Gangster Rap is mostly crap. Eminem had a few really good songs, R Kelly, Nelly, and others. But if you listen to Boys to Men, they like Hip Hop and they been around for years, one hit after another. They dont do gangster rap. Hey Ya! is really good, and it not gangster.
Summary of most Gangster Rap:
Yo all my B*tch*s, all the dubbed up caddies, **** me and **** him and ur a sl*t.

"Hey Ya" is Outkast, unless I'm mistaken. I like that and "Roses," as well as most Linkin Park. Also, "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang isn't bad - the first "rap" song. It just degenerated from there.
The one good country song is not by a country band - I didn't even know it was country until I read what the artist said about it - "Sun Child" by the Vines (I know, I'm obsessed with them - hopefully not to the extent that Nirvana is obsessed with Nirvana [no offense man]).
