Hello everyone! I have a bit of a problem...

I currently own a dell (AH!) that I have guted out and modded. All that is left is the power supply, the mother board and the processor, which I've decided need a new case desperately. I have a Dell 4600 with a power supply labeled Dell (???) and nothing else. It looks like this:

My Dell's Back

I want to buy this case with a back that looks like this:

New Case

New Case Back

My questions are as follows...

1. Can I rip out that plate in the back that holds ports for the motherboard extensions so that my old motherboard can fit in the new case?

2. How will I know if the case can support the power supply if the power supply is a generic Dell power supply?

Any help would be REALLY REALLY appreciated! Thanks so much guys (and girls)

1. you should be able to. If not its not a critical component (although it does reduce dust slightly, it is otherwise unnecessary)

2. it should still support it, however, whether or not the case will fit it is another matter...

Now...there are a few things you will need to be sure of

a. that your Dell motherboard's Form Factor matches that of the case (in this case, standard ATX)

b. that it uses standard connections for the power button, reset button, power LED, and HDD activity LED

One thing I will say, though: its probably not worth your trouble to rip out an OEM board and put it in a new case. In fact, if possible I'd reccomend you get a new motherboard and processor (I doubt it is, but if it is than go for it!). But that's up to you

Nooooo.................... Nighshift beat me to the punch...........

Why dont you just buy a new computer? Wait, what do you use the computer for? If you already went through all that trouble, you should add a better cooling system (my comp overheated today). See that one Ctrl Alt Del strip........

Actually the case's included fanload would make a pretty good cooling system (provided he's got a good CPU heatsink and fan)

Well.......... Ya.

I got 2 fans in my computer, and even then it over loads. Of course, I'm pushing this Evo like it an Alienware with 2 ATI Radeon 9000 cards

for a good while now I've run this box with three case fans (although it has a total of 6 to keep noise down I've kept the 4 main intakes on a very low setting)...its really the CPU fan that matters (I use an oversize heatsink with a 92mm fan on it).
