Ok since I *cough* got a copy of the last matrix movie *cough*, I watched it. The ending was downright horrible because it's the last matrix movie and doing what they did at the end was just downright evil. Probably just to prepare for a squeal to the last one

No! I heard somewhere that Kiano Reeves (or however you spell it, I really don't care) wasn't doing the last movie, that he didn't agree to doing it. Is that true?

the ending wasn't as bad as the tedious hour-long montage of machine guns and explosions.

I think good movies are based on hours long montages of machine guns and explosions. See example: The Godfather. and one of my all time favorites:
007. Hmm maybe I should start a topic on that. YAY! This is my 50th post!

at least 007 doesn't try to wax philosophical... anyway. I enjoyed the first two Matrix movies, although many disliked the second. The third one, however, lacked everything that would have made it a good Matrix movie - an interesting premise and elegantly stylish action sequences. The beginning of the film was good - the train station and the scenes with the oracle were effectively surreal - but the movie got boring and stupid. The battle scene, which could have been accomplished in about 10 minutes, was force-fed to us in about 1 hour, leaving me without enough interest in the film to really care about what was happening to Neo and Trinity (which should have been shown to us intercut with battle footage) or to be entertained by the final battle between Neo and Smith...
So there's my 2 cents.

I doubt it...I think the ending of Revolutions was intended to suggest that 1. the machines were no longer malicious 2. The Matrix's constant problems were finally solved by it's previosly never-ending battle between Smith and Neo ending (mind you, this is just one interpertation of it) 3. If the Matrix continues to exist, it would likely be a comparitive utopia, possibly even entirely voluntary
