I have heard about this site a little from some people. And have looked around on it. But I was just wondering, what is the point of this site? Is it just a little community where people come and talk? Or what?

Yea! It's Really cool. You can check out all sorts of stuff on forums like the forum "Soda" which people put stuff about why schools don't put soda in the soda machines.
