One question that's been bugging me lately: why don't a majority of our users come onto IRC on a regular basis? Also, if you have been on once or twice but not often, what made you do that?

As a fact-finding thread all responces will be taken into account by the network staff, and if any good suggestions are made I'll certainly consider instituting them.

1) No one is barely on IRC exept you & a bot mostly.
2) When no one talks at all on IRC, They feel like exiting out the window.
3) Even if there is about 7 people on IRC, Only 1 talks.

Maybe having some XDCC bots & hosting stuff on them will bring visitors in ;). Submit irc://irc.freedomsnet.net to sites and the xdcc channel to sites and tell people you got some cool applications available to download :).

Well...there's one problem with that: a majority of the users you get are leachers who come only for the downloads and never actually talk. We're a discussion group primarily.

advertise on other networks

Often that counts as spam. At any rate, the relavent issue is why our IRC arm is so much quieter than our forums. I'm not expecting an amazing amount of outsiders to the forums to join IRC, but I would like to see more of our forum's active members on there

Thats true Dragon. On another forum, People thought of a idea to set up a IRC room. So they do and a couple people are active...guess what? 2 days later, No one is in it :P.

So then, Someone makes another request for a chatroom but nah, It won't happen since the forums are enough :).

I mean...Chatting could be faster & easier through IRC but forums ...Blah. Almost the same thing exept IRC is alot faster tho.

Any way, We'll have to see how it goes. This site has been growing alot (People look like their too lazy to sign up) ...Alot of guests but they don't sign up @ all.

Any way, Hope you'll get more active members on IRC soon =).

Right...

If anyone legitimately doesn't know that, mouseover the IRC chat button on the header and click "Connect via Java IRC" (and if nothing loads up properly, pop down to Sun microsystem's site and download a Java VM)...
